Hiko shrugged. "Those who are destined to live will live, those who aren't die. I kill to protect the living, but it's not always necessary. Unlike those Mibu wolves, I don't thrist for blood."

"Well," Kurama stared at Hiko. "Why don't we talk a more....friendly topic. That way, Kenshin-san can 'relax' a bit."

Hiko smiled. "Why not?" He started on another bottle of Sake.

Kenshin sweatdropped. Kaoru exited the room for a while, then came back and said, "Kenshin, could you go get some tofu? We're out." Kenshin got up. "Of course, Kaoru-dono. I'll be back," he said, glad to leave the room. "Would you two like to stay for dinner?" Kaoru asked, turning to Hiko and Kurama.

Kurama smiled. "I would love to." he then stood up from his seat. "I'm going to take a brisk walk outside for a while."

Hiko shrugged. "I suppose I will stay. But from what I've heard, it sounds like I should help in preparing the meals if the girl is making them. It might make them safer for my health."

An anime vein popped onto Kaoru's forehead. "Are you saying there's something wrong with my cookin?" she asked, almost threateningly.

Hiko shook his head. "No, not at all. Compared to eating pond scum I'd much prefer your cooking." He was slightly drunk as he was finishing his second bottle of sake.

Kurama(who was still there) was rather surprised at Hiko's remark. "Don't worry, Kaoru-san. I'll help as well, since Hiko seems a bit drunk. I can help you make a dish more worthy for an emperor." With the change of plans, Kurama followed Kaoru into the kitchen.

Kaoru walked into the kitchen and tied her kimono sleeves back with a red ribbon. Her hair was already tied up with her favorite indigo ribbon. Slipping on an apron, she started up the fire.

Kurama placed his hand near to the fire, not letting it burn his hand, to take the temperature. "So, what's for dinner?" He asked.

Kaoru straightened up, then tilted her head up in thought. "Hm...steamed tofu and ground beef, along with rice and pickles," she said, trying to pick out something Kenshin would like.

Kurama nodded. "I see...I'll prepare the beef first." He said, looking where they store the beef.

Kaoru reached into a drawer full of ice and pulled out a bag of beef. She handed it to Kurama with a smile.

A figure worked his way up the streets of Tokyo. He saw his target. The Kamiya Dojo, home of Himura Kenshin... the supposedly most skilled swordsman in Japan. The figure dropped his hand to one of the three swords at his belt.
