Hiko glanced at Kurama. "I would agree with you on that. By my own teachings I'd agree with you. The purpose of the sword under the Hiten Mitsurugi school is to protect the weak. But it changes not the fact that a sword is a weapon of death. To protect the living, those who would threaten them must die."

Kurama glanced back at Hiko. "Yes, sometimes you have to kill to protect, but I believe there is a way that you can protect your loved ones without shedding too much blood." He took another sip of his tea after his little speech.

Hiko smirked but continued to drink the sake. "The Shisengumi of the Bakumatsu would strongly disagree. Even I spare a life occasionally, but they never did."

Kurama simply continued to drink his tea. He believes Kenshin has a more appropriate reply than him.

Hiko finished his sake. "I have no influence at you. I don't mind the stupidity of others in believing a sword should not kill. It is because he was my idiot pupil that it disheartens me so much."

Kenshin looked back and forth between the two as they spoke as if it were a tennis match. Oh wait, there was no tennis back then. He raised his cup to his mouth. "In any case, we should switch to a more friendly topic, that we should!" he said cheerfully, quite differently oblivious to the fact that Hiko had called him 'stupid pupil' again.

Hiko shrugged. "Why not? It seems I hit a nerve when we speak of killing... but just off that topic... there's a grave to be visited in Kyoto. It's been waiting for you for ten long years. What has taken you so long that you still do not go to it." His eyes were squarely on Kenshin. "You know which one I'm speaking of."

Kenshin stared into his tea. "This one does not wish to return to Kyoto, where bad memories await him, that he does not," he answered shortly. Kyoto...the place where he had been a man-slayer...the place where he had killed Tomoe...

Hiko shrugged. "You'll have to go there eventually..."

"Hopefully, you're wrong," Kenshin said, lifting his cup to his mouth and taking a sip. "Then again, you've been wrong a few times, that you have, so this one supposes that the odds aren't hopeless."

Kurama had finished his own cup of tea. "Kenshin-san, there will be a time you have to go to Kyoto. You have to face the living nightmare you once had. I did, so can you." He said, talking in riddles.

Kenshin laughed nervously. "Uh...right..." he said, trying to understand what he's just said.

Hiko smirked. "Don't be ridiculous, the only times I was ever wrong was when I underestimated your stupidity."

Kaoru sweatdropped as Kenshin literally fell over, stiff as a rock. He got up and yelled, with an anime sweatdrop, "That's very nice of you to say, that it is!"

"I doubt that," said Kurama, in reply to Kenshin's sensei. "For example -Kenshin-san, you may be a bit troubled with this- you believed that to protect the living, those who would threaten them must die. However, you later said even you spare lives occasionally, even you told me earlier they should die. Therefore, you either made a mistake in your sentences, or in your actions."
